    Music Recommendation: Dispatch

A long time ago, I was at work listening to Launchast. (For those that are not familiar with Launchcast, it is a service where you rate songs and it plays musical suggestions based on your ratings of previous songs and artists.) A group called "Dispatch" came up and I really dug it, but I quickly forgot their name until a couple weeks ago when I saw them on iTunes.

I downloaded their album (legally... image that) and found that I really enjoyed their music. I downloaded "Bang Bang," and it's been on constant replay on my iPod. This particular album is mostly acoustic and blends a funky style of folk-rock and reggage.

Some of their other albums have a more rock sound, but you can still hear their indie sound. Their vocal harmonies and their funky guitar work at times reminds me of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

If I had to describe their sound, I would say that they are a mix between the Chili Pepper's funkiness and the Barenaked Ladies' funness (is that a word). They really remind me of someone too... but I just can't put my finger on it right now.

Too bad the band has been officially broken up for 3 or 4 years now!
