Another Awesome DMB Night!
We just got back from the Dave Matthews Band concert! It was phenomenal! I think it was one of my best in a long time! I didn't get to see it, but Barbara told me that Dave came out in the beginning and said a few words of thanks to Gov't Mule, and then proceeded to dance onthe side of thestage with his wife and kids. It was Gov't Mule's last night of opening for DMB. So they had Warren Haynes come out and sit in on "Jimi Thing" and then on "Cortez the Killer"! I think that may have been my first time seeing that song.
The place was packed and the venue was sold out. I had an extra ticket that I was trying to get rid of in the parking lot, but unfortunately there were many people trying to get rid of tickets. So I ended up eating the cost of the extra ticket. How come I always end up getting screwed for a ticket or two... every single DMB show! Next year: paying the money, and buying good seats! Anyway... it was a great show! The weather didn't interfere with the show and the crowd was great! Overall, a very good night!

What You Are
This week has been so busy . . .
We saw Counting Crows and John Mayer on Monday night at the Cricket Pavilion in Phoenix. Maroon 5 was the opening band. Paulina's friend accidentally bought 2 Premiere Parking passes so we used one of them. It's pretty cool... You get to enter the parking lot at a separate entrance and you leave through a separate entrance. On top of that... it's really close to the front entrance. Considering that you pay $10 for just the regular parking, it seems like a pretty good deal.
We got inside and split up. Paulina and her friend went to their seats and Barbara and I went out to the lawn. It was empty out there (especially since it was only an hour before the show started.) We found a great spot close to the front center of the grass. It's still pretty far and the musicians look to be only about a few inches tall (from that view). . . I crush you like a bug - clush clush.
Maroon 5 was pretty good. I'd like to get some of their stuff. They came out at like 7:20 and played for about 30-40 minutes.
Counting Crows came up next. They proceeded to ask the eternal question: "How and why the hell do you live out here? It's too fuckin hot!" He also made a comment about not jumping around too much (due to the heat) and that he'd start with some acoustic stuff. Not lookin good!
The Counting Crows started the show with some slow-ass song (name I forget now) and proceeded to produce a set of slow song after slow song after some other nondescript radio pop song piece of crap! It all ran together - it all sounded the same. There were people out in the grass just laying down on the hill and literally going to sleep. People all around were having conversations as if the artists were simply on the radio next to them and not located at the bottom of the hill (on stage.) It was pathetic! *settle down*
Ok, so Counting Crows sucked. Luckily they played for about an hour and then did a couple more for an encore. During the set change, the feared ocurred... the monsoons struck. The first wave was a duststorm that blew all the paper and garbage from the right of the lawn to the left. Shit was flying everywhere. The dust got in our contacts, and then it started to rain. At this point it was only a light drop or two now and again.
Then John Mayer came out and the whole place just lit up. Obviously most were there to see John Mayer and not Counting Crows...well, either that or they were there for counting crows too, but the CC just bored them to death! hahahah.... they sucked! If I can remember correctly John played "Why Georgia" first. I think that was it... well, whatever itwas, it was 100% better than the whole CC set! He proceeded to play all his good stuff and a couple new songs as well (new album "Heavier Things" due Sept 9th.) During his set it started raining harder and harder, and there was lightning everywhere. Since the storms came in... it dropped like 20 degrees. So it was considerably cooler. But it never became drenching and eventually it all stopped.
The show finally ended around 11:30, and we conveniently found everyone and was outta there. It was a "late" night - we got home at 12:30.
Besides the concert on Monday, we got our new couches on Tuesday! They Look so nice. I have
photos of them in my albums. The couches are a nice burgundy/maroon color. We got a great deal on a 2 piece set. The couches help make the room complete (or more complete anyway.) We can actually hang out in the living room now. For the past two days I've been coming home and just plopping my ass down on the couch and not getting up for a good 3 hours! hahahah... What a lazy ass! Hundreds of channels and a new comfy couch! Come on... sounds good to me!
So tomorrow night is the big "show of the year." The Dave Matthews Band will be in town. We've got seats for this one! Gov't Mule is opening too! It's gonna be an awesome show. Barbara is so excited for Dave too! Hopefully we'll have some decent weather. But who the hell knows with our wierd summer 'monsoon' weather.
Ok, that's it for now. . . I'm sure there will be more to write after the DMB show tomorrow night!
Today was a pretty successful day... we managed to get a lot done. Barbara got her oil changed, and I got all my supplies from Home Depot for my speaker mounting project. On top of that, we found a couch set (couch and loveseat.) It was a great price and is an amazing deal! Originally we were looking at some neutral colored couches, but I kinda thought all the neutral colors would be too much for the room. We needed something a little bolder and with some darker colors to contrast the walls and carpet.
So they're delivering the couches on Tuesday! I can't wait... it's gonna be nice. Tomorrow: I'm going to install the surround sound speakers in the corners of the walls. I'll probably start it when Barbara leaves to meet up with her school group tomorrow morning.
For this project I had to buy some fun things like a stud finder, snaking tape, a crowbar, and a drywall saw. Heheh... fun - fun more tools!! :n)

This evening we went over to Barbara's family's house for dinner and to see Jarron. He's opening eyes now and looks so adorable. Is it a good sign when a baby pees on you? Yes... as I was holding him, his diaper leaked and he peed on my shirt. hahah... it wasn't that bad... I've had worse on my shirt before.
Baby Jarron is finally here!
Hollie (Barbara's oldest sister) gave birth to a healthy baby boy today at 1:32pm. We got the first call last night at around 1:30 am. After 12 hours of labor, Jarron was born. Barbara went right to the hospital this morning and stayed with Hollie at the hospital all day. Jayden was so excited to finally meet his new baby brother. Both Hollie and Jarron are doing well and recovering. I didn't have my camera with me, but Jimmy had his. Hopefully, I can get a picture of him soon.
... in other news....
Congratulations to Brian and Maureen
on their recent engagement!
Best wishes guys!
Our carpet looks so nice. It has a chemically smell (of new carpet), but never the less, it's better than the odor of dogs. When they lifted the carpet, I could see on the pad where the dogs had peed. From the looks of it, the dogs had accidents everywhere in the house. Thank god that all gone. Additionally, I was able to lay some speaker wire down before they put the carpet down. That made hiding the speakers a lot easier.
The color goes so well with all our walls and with the color furniture that we want. We even did some furniture shopping. Last night we got an entertainment center, a bookshelf, and a coffee table. The house is starting to come together now. It's definitely not that woman's home and now our's!
It'll be so nice to have a somewhat relaxing weekend.
I just got the call that our carpet has arrived and that they're installing it tomorrow!!!! Yay! Finally we will have nice, new carpet that isn't all stained and smelling of dog! Our place will look so nice and 'brand new.' Hopefully, the dog smell will dissapear with the removal of the old disgusting blue carpet. Finally Bailey won't have to endure the stench of the 2 dogs that used to live in our home!
It was sooo nice to finally have a relaxing weekend! The 3 day weekend seemed longer... but no complaints here!
We went to a birthday party on Thursday night for our friend Dave. It was fun. We met a few other couples and had a few drinks. But like the 'old' people we are, we left by like midnight. Neither one of us can really party anymore. I guess we're just out of practice. It's funny: all the couples were talking about 'grown up' stuff like getting married and having kids! Am I old enough for talk like this? I suppose so! Damn... can't I still be a kid?
We relaxed on Friday and went over to Jimmy and Hollie's for dinner and an swim (ahhhhh - felt so nice.)
Then on Saturday I had to wait for our new washer so I couldn't go to the circus with the rest of Barbara's family. Damn! She got sweet/suite tickets! So the suite was all enclosed (good for the stinky animals) and stocked with beverages and snacks! Oh well... now we got a washer! It works really well and is pretty huge! I think we've run like 5 or 6 loads since getting it! It's so nice!
Now this is pretty interesting...

Heavy Marijuana Use Doesn't Damage Brain"
Wow, we've already been in the new house for a week. Our place is still a mess... all our crap is still in the boxes.
We did get our fridge, washer, and dryer delivered. The washer doesn't work properly so we had a Best Buy service guy out to repair it. He immediately thought it was a still installed packing pin, but he quickly found that that definitely wasn't the problem. After an hour of trying to find the problem, he told me that he could order a new drive shaft and transmission (for the washer) and install it. Who the hell wants that? Something broken from the start isn't gonna get any better and won't last that long. So I called Best Buy up, and now they're delivering a new one on Saturday! Damn... now that's customer service!
So now I'm waiting to hear about the carpet. The installers should receive it any day now and should be calling to setup an installation date. I can't wait till that's done! At least then we can start getting all our furniture and setting all our stuff in our rooms. We've been looking at that dirty, ugle blue carpet for too long now. I can't wait to see what it looks like with the paint. The other thing is that lately, I've been able to smell the dog odor left behind by the previous owner's 2 huge dogs! (eeewww!)
Tomorrow is the Fourth of July, and I think we're gonna take it somewhat easy this weekend. Tonight we're going over to a friend's house for a party, and then tomorrow just hangin out. On Saturday we got tickets to go see the Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey Circus! I hope I can go... I may be waiting for the new washer! Yay... we get to go to the circus!
Hahah... this is pretty funny...
NOSE PICKIN' &NUTS!
One evening a man was at home watching TV and eating peanuts. He'd toss
them in the air, then catch them in his mouth.
In the middle of catching one, his wife asked a question, and as he
turned to answer her, a peanut fell in his ear.
He tried and tried to dig it out but only succeeded in pushing it in
deeper. He called his wife for assistance, and after hours of trying they
became worried and decided to go to hospital.
As they were ready to go out the door, their daughter came home with her
date. After being informed of the problem, their daughter's date said he
could get the peanut out.
The young man told the father to sit down, then shoved two fingers up the
father's nose and told him to blowhard. When the father blew, the peanut
flew out. The mother and daughter jumped and yelled for joy. The young
man insisted that it was nothing and the daughter brought the young man out
to the kitchen for something to eat.
Once he was gone the mother turned to the father and said, "That's so
wonderful! Isn't he smart? What do you think he's going to be when he
grows older?"
The father replied "From the smell of his fingers, ... our son in-law!"
