Yahoo! News - World Photos - AP

With these type of photos you got to wonder why the hell we are even trying to help these people??? What kind of society hangs dead, charred bodies from a bridge while cheering and smiling???

Thank you Mr. Bush!

FactCheck.org Bush's Gas Attack: Does Good Policy Make Bad Politics?

"...Kerry once voiced support for a 50-cent increase in the gasoline tax. Bush calls that "wacky," but Bush's chief economist praised the idea...

...A Bush ad released March 30 attacked Kerry for once supporting the "wacky" idea of raising the gasoline tax by 50 cents per gallon. That was a decade ago. More recently, the man who later became Bush's own chief economist said higher gasoline taxes would lead to "less traffic congestion, safer roads, and reduced risk of global warming" and that raising gasoline taxes 50 cents to pay for a cut in income-tax rates "may be the closest thing to a free lunch that economics has to offer." How "wacky" is that?..."

If you like Jack Johnson, you gotta check this out.

It's a whole solo acoustic show (link on the left for "Bonus Audio & Video") for download off of Jack's site jackjohnsonmusic.com

This show is pretty freakin cool since it was before his second album (On and On) came out. So there are some good early versions of his songs.

Bushy Lies - that's the truth!

Once again the Bush campaign flat out lied... I'm surprised they didn't check their facts and use their words a little better:

"The President misled voters and reporters in a March 20 speech when he claimed that Kerry “voted over 350 times for higher taxes on the American people” during his 20-year Senate career. Bush spoke of “yes” votes for “tax increases.” But in fact, Kerry has not voted 350 times for tax increases, something Bush campaign officials have falsely accused Kerry of on several occasions. On close examination, the Bush campaign’s list of Kerry’s votes for “higher taxes” is padded..."
[Factcheck.org]

One of the votes the Bush Administration is counting towards the 350 vote tally includes:
"A 1985 vote to offset a proposed increase in Medicare premiums by preventing the tax on cigarettes from dropping to 8 cents a pack from 16 cents, as it was scheduled to do. Taxes would have remained at 16 cents a pack."
[Factcheck.org]

Does this surprise you much?

So if the "President", his administration, and campaign can't even get historical facts correct - how can we trust him/them with our country???

After sifting through all the political garbage and mudslinging, why not take a look at what really happened. . .

FactCheck.org

"The Annenberg Political Fact Check is a project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania. The APPC was established by publisher and philanthropist Walter Annenberg in 1994 to create a community of scholars within the University of Pennsylvania that would address public policy issues at the local, state, and federal levels.

The APPC accepts NO funding from business corporations, labor unions, political parties, lobbying organizations or individuals. It is funded primarily by an endowment from the Annenberg Foundation."

While you may not want to totally base your views on this site, the information seems factual, credible, and unbiased.

Dental Reconstruction?

Some ask, "why haven't you gone to the dentist in so long?"

I think it was first laziness and then when my teeth were noticeably a problem it was fear of what needed to be done. So after 8 years, I finally went to the dentist. Things were bad... tartar buildup - lots of scraping (ow) and also the matter of the one back molar. I was anticipating the worst with that tooth: root canal... definitely a cap/crown... maybe a few cavities?

After about a half an hour of scraping and cleaning we looked at the dental x-rays and he explained my predicament with that last pesky tooth. It may need a root canal - it may not. They'll have to check it out later (ugh.) At least it'll definitely need a crown. I guess it could be worse. At least I only had 1 cavity! Not too bad considering I haven't been to the dentist in years. I guess only 1 cavity in 30 years isn't too bad!

Nightline: Laura Schmidt Pizzarello

Here is the follow up from Nightline concerning Aunt Laura's piece on ABC. The piece has been bumped several times due to newsworthy stories last week, but should be aired tonight or sometime this week.

A Gastronomical Visit!

I love my parents and everything, but I think I've gained like 5-10 pounds while they were here! We love seeing them, but eat soooo much. Now I'm the last one to complain, but the food is sooo good! I can't complain at all! At least I get some awesome leftovers!

At first I was afraid the weekend was going to be misearble for them (When they arrived on Thursday the weather was absolutely terrible.) Thursday/night was awful with rain and cold winds and thunder and lightning. I couldn't believe the weather! So... not like AZ! I met up with them on thursday night for dinner (Barbara had classes.) By the time I got home, Barbara had been waiting up for me to see how dinner went.

My parents stayed at The Sanctuary on Camelback and it was absolutely beautiful! Built into the northern side of Camelback Mountain, it still remained bleneded into the desert landscaping. Not too large, but nestled within the Paradise Valley community! The restaurant (Elements) was unbelieveable. They had phenominal food and atmosphere (modern asian inspired decor) and a great 180 degree view of Paradise Valley. It was incredible!

On Friday, the girls went to the spa for the day! Both of them had an amazing time all day at the spa. Must be nice! I spent the day at work and had lunch with my dad at Elements again. Then on Friday night we went to Lons for dinner. The restaurant is in another one of my parents favorite resorts in P.V. (The Hermosa Inn.) Like usual, we had a great meal! That was the first place that my parents met Barbara!

On Saturday we picked them up from their hotel and went over to the Biltmore (another favorite of ours) for lunch. After a nice lunch we headed over to our house so they could see it for the first time since we moved in! We spent some time there and brought them back to their hotel so they could relax for a bit. Saturday night's dinner was at a place recommened by one of my dad's friends in NJ. The place had some really good Italian food... definitely better than expected! But their service was pretty lousy! I think I've passed the place 10 million times and had never seen it before.

... and then yesterday I picked up my parents and we met up with Barbara and her family for lunch. We had a really nice lunch with them and all the kids at "Red, White, and Brew." Yet again, another place that I've passed 10 million times when going to Barbara's family's or to Starbucks, but we had just never checked it out! Haha... they forwarned us when we first sat down that their portions were large. I don't htink we really anticipated how large they really were. I think everyone was very pleasantly surprised that the food was so good! About half of us got pasta dishes and they all were too much for us to finish! I had to leave some room... dinner was at my fav!

... the finale to a great weekend was dinner at Mastros! Once again, the food was amazing! The service was phenominal! It's definitely one of the best (if not the best) place in the whole valley! Everything there is just incredible! Haha... if you talk to me... ask me about Mastros! I will rave about it! (I promise) ;n)

The Smoking Gun: MARCH 2--Five months after filing for divorce from Lionel Richie, the singer's estranged wife has just weighed in with a whopping--and remarkably detailed--demand for at least $300,000 in monthly support payments.

More. . .

It's unbelievable how some people believe that they need or are owed such things. Maybe it's partially his fault for letter her spend his money like that... But it's definitely his fault for not getting a prenup! He was already a wealthy musician before her. Come on Lionel... you should be smarter than that!
