Is the Building Moving, Or Is It Me?
Uy...
We got home about mid afternoon yesterday, and all we did was relax and unpack. I tried to get my paper done, but that wasn't gonna happen - I was just too exhausted!
Today is starting pretty slowy. Not that I don't have a ton of work to do, but my body is still recovering from my weekend of nonstop consumption of alcohol. I think the last time I drank so much alcohol non-stop was either Seth's bachelor party weekend in New Orleans or our trip to New Zealand. All I know is that I drank a lot! Saturday, our one year anniversary, I drank mimosas and champagne all day. I even drank most of a bottle of champagne on Saturday night - wow, the boat was rockin that night!
I'd like to go into more detail about the trip, but I've got a shitload of work to do today.
Man, I'm slacking - I didn't even get any photos uploaded yet.
So the wifey and I are back to work, and even though it was only 4 days, it's still hard to get back to work.
Both of our heads are pounding and congested, and we were pretty tired this morning.
I'm sitting here at my desk, and it seems that my head still isn't right...
Would someone tell the buildings to stop moving! I feel like I'm still floating on the ship!
Back to work...
Tick Tock... SOS
It's not even 8am yet, and I'm sitting here at work with my Burger King breakfast sammich. As it is, I got in pretty late today... but hell, we're going on vacation, and I really only have work thing to do today (hand deliver a proposal to the City of Maricopa
I got in late cause we were still trying to pack all our stuff for this weekend's cruise. This was probably the most unorganized we've ever been for a trip. We've just been so busy
We're getting very excited about the cruise, but we're kinda hesitant about the weather. It hasn't rained in over 140 days and we're supposed to get some this weekend... it figures. The damn souhtwestern portion of the US is supposed to get rain, cooler temperatures and wind. Great! Luckily we got our motion sickness pills. I never would've gotten them, but after both of us started to get sea sick on the catamaran in Hawaii, I'm not so sure (granted that smaller boat was in some extremely choppy surf.)
Oh well, I'm sure we'll have fun. I hope to eat a lot, drink a lot, and hopefully have fun a lot
With all the bad pr the cruise lines are getting, it kinda makes you hesitant to take a cruise!
What kinda water virus am I gonna get?
Will I disappear on the ship?
Will we be attacked by pirates?
If no one hears from us by Tuesday or Wednesday, please send help - we've either been abducted or decided to run away to Mexico!
Real Simpsons
It's been out for a few days now, but check this out.

Seed: Microscopy and the Art of Sudoku
For my Wifey, Andy, and Smelmooo:
When Cornell physicist Veit Elser attempted to demystify an esoteric imaging problem for biologists, he had no idea his solution would also help subway riders and break room loiterers around the world figure out those challenging, Sudoku puzzles.
While creating an algorithm that could render images of small and delicate biological specimens, Elser inadvertently found a universal solution for the popular Japanese brainteasers...

No Rain
"All I can say is that my life is pretty plain...
I like watching the puddles gather rain.."
Today is day number 143 without a drop of rain.
What do you expect? We do live in the desert!
While 90% of the time I love the weather here in Arizona, this is just ridiculous!
After a while you tend to miss the rain.
This August will be 9 years that I've been in Arizona! That's pretty hard to believe.
After almost a decade out here, I've gotten used to all the dirt, dust, and lack of trees (real trees.)
Not much green (unless you go North about an hour or two).
For the past few weeks, we've had the tease of precipitation, but so far: no rain.
This summer is going to be a killer fire season.
Last winter we had too much rain. That resulted in more vegetation growth and more fires.
Too much rain - bad summer fire season.
Too little rain - bad summer fire season.
Wow!
First there was ninja t-shirt folding. Now watch as these asians show you how to easily peel a potato!
Damn, makes me want to try it now! Come on, I know you want to try it too. I'm sure you tried folding the t-shirt after seeing that other "ninja tshirt" video (I sure did - I'm a geek like that!) ;n)
Just watch the

What kind of sleeper are you?
Who would've thought that you could tell so much about a person from the position they sleep?

According to the article I think I am a mix of a "soldier" and a "starfish."

How was I so lucky???
A few weeks ago, I got a dreaded envelope in the mail. At first glance it looked like a typical piece of junk mail, but with a second look, I realized it was MUCH more important.
A return address of "United States District Court" is never a good sign!
I knew I wasn't in trouble so it could only be one thing:
JURY DUTY!While I'm not supposed to go into the specifics, lets just say that it's a RICO case that is expected to last 4 to 6 months!!! Yes, I said
4 to 6 months! Most people get fairly "insignificant" cases that last for a few days or maybe a week. Somehow I was "lucky" enough to get summoned for a federal case. If circumstances were different it could be very interesting, but this is just ridiculous.
I'm not really sure how they expect everyday citizens to participate in this type of jury. Yeah, your employer can't fire you, but how are you supposed to live on $40 per day? Your employer has to let you take that time off, but they don't have to pay you for the time off!
Additionally, how is a person supposed to continue with their job when being forced to take a 4 to 6 month leave? (The jury duty, if selected, is Tuesday through Friday 9am to 4pm.)
With my job, school, travel plans, and other future plans, I'm not really sure how everything is going to progress.
Everyone is saying that I have valid reasons to be dismissed from the jury duty... I just hope so!
Coffee Withdrawal
For the past few days I've been trying something different.
I've realized that while I love coffee, tea was becoming another favorite hot beverage (probably from all the dim sum we've been having on the weekends). We went to the Asian market last weekend and picked up some great green tea. For the past 3 days I've been making some tea and bringing that to work.
Equipped with my Starbucks travel cup I drank tea for a few hours each morning and unconsciously abstained from coffee. It wasn't until yesterday afternoon, that I realized I was so tired because I had coffee in about 4 days.
Forget it! Back to my black, morning eye-opener... back to the crack that is coffee.
I'm not even that picky about my coffee. It doesn't have to be a double skinny latte or some fine Columbian brand coffee bean (although my current coffee drink is a triple venti 2 sugar cappuccino). While most gas station coffee is gross, I'll even drink that when nothing else is available.
I used to like the stronger/darker coffees... but ever since I stopped smoking and our trip to Hawaii, I've really gotten into Kona coffee blends.
ahhhhhh.... cooooffffeeeeee! *yawn*
