Last night I was sitting on my cube ottoman at the living coffee table typing away on my laptop. I think I was eating something and thought I had dropped something on the floor. I shifted my bare foot and stepped on something kinda crunchy - felt like a piece of cardboard or crumpled up paper. I looked down and realized that I had stepped on a scorpion!

I’m not too bad with creepy crawlies, but this thing made me jump up. I think it was more the fact that it surprised the shit out of me. At this point, I wish I had taken a picture of it first before smashing the shit out of it with a magazine.

Everyone out in Arizona says it’s only a matter of time before you find them. I think the mesquite trees also attract them. Either way, I don’t like them… and this is coming from someone that has had 2 tarantulas as pets!

I was starting to look for a photo to show what it looked like, but now it’s freaking me out thinking that there’s probably more somewhere close! This one was pretty small - maybe 2-3 inches long. But it looks like the most comon AZ scorpion: the Bark Scorpion. From what I read it can have a lethal sting. The fortunate/unfortunate thing is that the cats usually find all bugs and critters before I do. So they’d most likely find it first. This one was pretty much right under me. So they hadn’t seen it.

Ok, no more scorpions!

This weekend I wanted to go to the movies. I really didn’t have a movie that was a must-see. I think it was more just a reason to get out of the house and do something. God knows I’ve spent way too much time in the house over the past few weeks.

I really didn’t feel like dealing with the typical weekend movie view crowds. So I waited until Sunday evening.

The preview looked pretty good. This movie seemed to be like some of Guy Ritchie’s other movies: quick, slick, snappy, and fast-paced. This movie was none of that. While it had some of the cool cinematic style that I was hoping for, the plot was rather boring and it lacked the charm of some of his other movies.

The cast was pretty good, and several people did a decent job, but overall this one was a dissapointment. Don’t waste your money. There’s a reason why you probably haven’t heard of this movie.

Only 1.5 stars out of 5.
